The End Is Near

Good Morning!! When we see a "Dead End" road marker, we know that it is there so that we will alter our current course of action,...and make changes appropriate to the warning. The certain and approaching end of this life, and this earth, should likewise be a warning sign along the road, for us.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.—2 Peter 3:10-12 (NIV)

Peter even says, knowing beforehand that this world is coming to a soon and definite end, should cause us to consider the course of our life. Knowing the end is near,...shouldn't we have different ambitions, actions, and affections, than those who think that this world will last forever? Knowing the end is near,...shouldn't the temporariness of earthly treasure, cause us to pursue the inflammable riches of heaven?

Knowing what we know,...the Holy and consuming fire of our God, should engulf our hearts with only a desire for purity and godly passions.

Holy Spirit, knowing what we know by faith; that one day soon, all these things will dissolve like smoke into thin air,...help us to be the kind of people of God we should,...for the glory of God. Amen.
