God's Way, The Wise Way

Good Morning!! There is an interesting insight within today's proverb, that gives hope,...as well as warning. Notice the purposeful intimacy that is used in both the positive, and contrasting negative, admonitions. He that walks with wise men is sure to be wise. It is not as though wisdom automatically rubs off, on anyone who finds themselves in a family, or church full of wise people. Almost every family, and certainly every church, has seen some individual, who even grew up in their midst, then turned away from the wisdom of God's Word,...to the foolish pursuits of the world. It is not simply being around wise people that makes a person wise,...it's walking with them. It is the conscious choice to learn from, agree with, and live by the wisdom that one sees. It is the purposeful decision to walk according to the friendly, wise counsel and example they give.

Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.Proverbs 13:20 (NIV)

The contrasting, lesson is this; a companion of fools will suffer harm. Everyone of us has ungodly friends or coworkers,...but this does not in itself insure our demise,...it's making companions, and intimate friends, of these individuals, which will prove detrimental,...it's going along, to fit in with their foolishness. There is warning in this proverb, because success or failure depends on the friendships we choose to form,...and keep. However, there is hope, because we can choose who our real friends, and close confidants, will be.

Who you hang around, who you choose to fit in with, makes a difference,...choose wisely, choose Godly.

Holy Spirit, give us the powerful gift of discernment, so that we may clearly see, and know, those that are a hinder, and those that a help, to God's purpose for our lives. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

"Any time you make a commitment to something,
...just know, that it will be tested."
