Sometimes, Silence Is What We Need

Good Morning, It's Another Wonderful Worshipful Wednesday!! An uncomfortable silence,...we have become so accustomed to noise that silence, most times, is uncomfortable. So much so, that we make noise ourselves to fill that silence. Noise also keeps us from thinking our own thoughts, and we often mistake noise and movement with productivity and goodness.

The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening."—1Samuel 3:10 (NIV)

We may also be uncomfortable with silence before God,...so we ramble on, hooked on the sound of our own voices. Yet there are some things that God can teach us only when we are silent. Because we can not talk and listen at the same time, private devotions and corporate worship must allow us time to speak and time to be silent so we can listen.

We may feel like God never speaks to us,
...but the truth is; we've filled our lives with so much noise and movement, and we never stop long enough to hear Him.

Holy Spirit, help us to make time, to clear our minds and quieten your spirits,...so that we are able to open ourselves to God. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

" We lose the joy of living in the present,...when we worry about the future, or live in the past."
