Good Morning!! I'm not sure if there is a hidden meaning, for precise number 153, in today's scripture. I do know that it was a great catch. The fishermen were disciples of Jesus and had returned to their trade after a three-year absence. After an unsuccessful night of fishing,...a suggestion from someone standing on the shore, resulted in a net full of fish.
Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.—John 21:11 (NIV)
Peter and the others later discovered; that not only was the Master Fisherman alive, but he had a fire built,...and breakfast waiting for them. I see the specifics of 153 large fish, as reassuring. Not one was overlooked,...each was important and was counted. This passage should reassure us all, that not one of us, is ever overlooked by God.
Just as promised,...
God is always waiting to welcome, and feed us.
Father God, we thank You for Your word, which speaks to us the blessed assurance of Your love forever, in Jesus Christ. Amen.
"Because God is with us,...we do not have to be afraid".
