Help The Weak

Good Morning!! Support the weak,...a message that seems to be lost on the rich and powerful,...yet, this is the very essence of serving others. Not "impress the powerful," or "be good to the influential," or "help those who might be able to pay you back, in the future." No, the whole idea of true service is reaching out to others, with no thought of getting something in return. Supporting the weak means assisting those, perhaps even on an ongoing basis,...who are powerless to repay the favor. As Jesus worded it in the gospel of Luke, "do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back." (6:35).

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"Acts 20:35 (NIV)

Paul quotes the words of Jesus, which have literally become proverbial: it is more blessed to give than to receive. A simple assertion,...and one that has become so commonly known in our culture, that almost everyone has heard or spoken them. Yet, how many of us, can say we live by this truth? Who is actually willing to give of their time, energy, and money, over and over again, without receiving any service, gifts or attention from others, in return?

As Christians, we must learn to live an others-focused, service-centered lifestyle.

Lord teach us, to live out the belief, that giving to others, for Your glory, is always infinitely more satisfying than any personal gain. Amen.

"God doesn't call us to be successful,...He calls us to be faithful."
